About Us

The Publication

"We believe Southern Africa is the most extraordinary region on Earth. Our job is to make the reader feel that — without embellishment."

— Siya Dlamini, Editor-in-Chief
Our Mission

Travel Southern Africa was founded in 2014 with a simple proposition: that the region deserved a publication as sophisticated as its landscapes. Not a brochure. Not a booking engine. A magazine — with all the editorial rigour and visual ambition that word implies.

We publish three issues annually in digital format, each themed around a different aspect of the region: its wildlife, its coasts, its deserts, its people, its food. Each issue is built around long-form journalism, original photography, and a refusal to be anything other than honest.

We are read by the traveller who plans a trip the way others plan a chapter of their life. We do not write for everyone. We write for them.

Editorial Principles

How we work

01

First-hand, always

We do not commission desk-written travel copy. Every article in TSA is written by a journalist who has been there, eaten that, and lost sleep to the sounds of the bush.

02

Conservation is not a footnote

We believe responsible travel journalism has an obligation to report on the political and ecological reality of the places it celebrates. We do not sugar-coat.

03

One image, properly chosen

We reject the visual noise of content marketing. Every photograph in our magazine earns its page. We work with photographers who understand that restraint is a form of power.
